6 Reasons Why Nigerian Parents Bully Their Children And possible Solutions

Here are 6 profound reasons why Nigerian parents bully their children and possible solutions

1.  Stealing:

Nigerian parents can be so loving and sweet; they would go to any extent to make sure their children have the best. For this, when their children steal, they beat the living daylight out of them as soon as they catch wind of the offence.

In order to avoid this, parents have to provide their children with those necessary essentials and teach them to be contempted with what they have.

2.  Being disrespectful :

Nigeria is a country where culture has deep roots. Nigerians are expected to be respectful when they are in the midst of their elders. And so, parents hate it when their children refuse to accord them the respect they ought to.

It is expected that parents teach their children how to be cultured, respectful and disciplined in order to avoid being bullied by their parents.

3.  Lack of communication skills :

In most Nigerian homes, there is lack of communication skills. Parents are always violent towards each other. And most times, that aggression is being transferred to the children(which is very wrong).

Parents are expected not to act violently towards themselves and to their children.

4.  Frustration :

In most families, (most especially ;these days) the rate of Frustration is very high. Maybe due to poor economy and other related issues they are always frustrated. Each time this thought comes to them, they unleash their annoyance to their children (bullying them).

No matter how parents are frustrated, the anger is not supposed to be unleashed on the children as the fault is not from them.

5.  Anger:

For instance, you ask your son to come here ;he chooses to ignore you. Then you walk to him and force him to stop what he’s doing and come here. You end up bullying him.

It is expected that you teach that child to be obedient rather than forcing him into submission.

6.  Because they are being bullied at work:

Some parents bully their children because they are being bullied at work. They feel weak because of lack of power at work which increases the risk of neglecting kids and not being able to support the kids because of emotional drain.

No matter what parents go through, they are supposed to cater their children and shower them with love so as not to feel depressed.
